Modern Hallway

Modern hallway

A combination of light and dark grey is less evasive than traditional black and white schemes. Lift the look with white and shiny silver accessories, or make it more intense with dark wood furniture.

Clean white hallway

Contemporary glass doors open into this light, bright modern hallway with stone floor tiles and soft carpeted stairs. Statement art and a large pendant light complete the look.

Green geometric hallway

A block of colour in a vibrant shade, like this mountain green, will instanly update a hallway. A patterned carpet displayed as a wall panel creates an impact and is teamed with matching geometric-style lampshades to achieve a more formal look. Quirky metal accessories complete the scheme.

Bright red hallway

Bold colour is injected into this modern hallway. Orange carpet looks great running down the centre of the white painted stairs and banisters, and is teamed with red walls. Colourful dolls add personal touches.

Striking pastel hallway

Painting elaborate objects, such as this ornate mirror, in the same colour as the walls creates a striking focal point that doesn't impose on the hallway.

Cosy reading corner

A traditional winged back chair adds a surprise element to this sleek contemporary interior, while vintage trunks piled up also add character and charm to the simple backdrop.

Striped wallpaper hallway

Create a striking backdrop in the hallway with a glamorous wallpaper such as this striped design.

Eclectic hallway

With mixed styles of accessories and furniture, this hallway has an air of opulence and shabby chic.

Stylish hallway

Transform your hallway by choosing simple storage ideas. Hide clutter in smart storage cubes, put up some coat hooks and keep keys in a small tray on the table. A smart lamp will bring a touch of sophistication to the space and a gallery of photographs will add the final stylish touch.

Striped hallway

The appearance of an entrance hall is important and this striking Osborne & Little stripe wallpaper is designed to leave a lasting impression. The horizontal stripes also give the hall a more elongated appearance. The ornate console table from Judy Greenwood Antiques, imposing gilded mirror and leather-bound chairs complement the Victorian architecture.

Smart and stylish hallway

Elegant furniture teamed with rich colour makes a smart first impression. A mirror placed at the end of a hallway reflects daylight back into darker areas.

Wooden hallway staircase

The wooden staircase has been opened up to provide storage underneath for books.

Modern hallway storage

Thin shoe storage cabinets are a handy way to keep clutter out of sight. Allocate a pigeonhole-style space to each member of the family, and use low peg rails to encourage the kids to tidy too.

Framed display

Subtle variations in colour bring an air of order to an eclectic collection. Cute animals and accessories take on artistic feel when displayed together in a 3D box frame.

Bold entrance hall

A coat stand that resembles a 3-D tube map, creates a bold impact in this hallway and will give guests a delightful surprise. Continue the confident look and play with scale by adding a huge, illuminated letter.

Hallway shoe storage

Vintage-style furniture can easily be adapted to create neat shoe storage for a hallway.

Light modern hallway

Lush foliage softens the edges in this modern hallway. Bold palms are grouped together for a cool, contemporary look. The space is enclosed by glass and lets a huge amount of light in, giving it that summer conservatory feel. The blocks of white are broken up with accents of colour to complete the look.

Mirrored hallway

Repeating the same simple pattern can give a luxurious feel. Here, mirrors have been used to clever effect to break up the bold wallpaper behind.

Striking modern hallway

Use striking wallpaper to create a statement panel down the edge of one wall. Hung in a hallway, at the foot of the stairs, it gives a dramatic impact to what would otherwise be an uninspiring space.

Organised hallway

By using individual chalk memo boards for reminders, a smart organiser box on the wall for takeaway menus, pens and taxi numbers, and neat magazine files for post and directories, you can create a multi-tasking hall.

Hallway storage

Make a feature of hallway panelling by painting it a striking blue and teaming it with a contrasting colour. Hang hooks at the right height for adults and children, and add name tags for a personal touch.

Hallway with oriental-style storage

Conceal essential storage with a heavy drape silk curtain, interlined and reversible for practical elegance. Here, an open bookcase from Ikea has been turned into storage for shoes and accessories with a silk curtain made from Designers Guild to hide them. Oriental-inspired blossom wallpaper in subtle shades is a pretty backdrop.

Hallway with bold wall art

Striking wall art in vibrant red, set against gold damask wallpaper and teamed with decorative gold furniture, creates a dramatic and regal look.

Monochrome hallway

Sculpture and art work adds pattern and texture to the walls of this narrow hallway, while a black and white patterned rug brings interest to the floor. The white walls keep the space feeling larger.

Stylish hallway

Pair exotic dark wood, such as this antique Ming console table from Anne Robinson, with a low-level chaise longue from Geoffrey Drayton and a round rattan cane tray from Albrisi, for an invitingly comfortable feel. Accessorise with harmonious.

Soft green hallway

Choose soft green walls and wooden furniture for a relaxed, natural look. The desk is by Conran and the chair is from Habitat, with the striped curtain fabric from Ian Mankin adding an uplifting element to the room. A simple unframed canvas finishes off the look.

French-inspired hallway display

The solid colour of a statement wall makes a striking foil for a sleek white table. Ceramics provide texture, while framed French phrases add a humorous touch.

Contemporary hallway landing

On a mezzanine floor use shutters to separate the upstairs bedrooms from the living area below, but open up the space on summer days.

Art Deco hallway

A careful arrangement of pieces op top of an Art Deco-style console table makes an ordinary hallway feel special.

Hallway chalkboard wall

A floor-to-ceiling blackboard enhances this open-plan hallway space. The area is defined by using a contrasting neutral paint on surrounding walls, creating a boundary.
